Keratin vs Hair Botox: Which Is Better?

Two clients a week ask us for "keratin or botox, whichever is better". The honest answer: they do different jobs. Here's how to choose.

What keratin smoothing does

Keratin coats the hair and seals the cuticle under heat, making hair smoother, straighter and far less frizzy for 3–4 months. It changes texture — waves relax, curls loosen. Best for frizzy, unmanageable or wavy hair that you blow-dry straight anyway. ÉLAN's keratin is formaldehyde-free and takes about 3 hours.

What "hair botox" does

Despite the name, there's no botulinum involved. Hair botox is a deep-conditioning filler — proteins, amino acids, oils — that plumps damaged hair, adds shine and softness and reduces mild frizz for 6–10 weeks. It does not straighten. Best for dry, damaged or colour-treated hair where you want to keep your natural texture.
